Q. What is Palliside made from?

A. Palliside is made from specially formulated uPVC. There are two types of uPVC used in the formulation of the weatherboards, which give the product its strength and impact resistance while minimising expansion and contraction. The uPVC also keeps the product light.

Q. What is the best way to clean Palliside?

A. Warm soapy water and a soft brush will remove most grime and dirt build-up. Cleaners such as 30 Seconds and Wet & Forget can also be used. Avoid harsh solvent-based cleaners.

Q. Can I use a water blaster to clean Palliside?

A. Yes.

Q. How does Palliside compare with other claddings in terms of price?

A. Palliside generally is less expensive than painted timber, high-end fibre cement weatherboards and cedar. Although material costs may be similar, savings are made with Palliside, as the installation is generally much quicker than other weatherboards.

Q. How does Palliside compare with brick and plaster?

A. Palliside is generally less expensive than brick veneers and similar in cost to plaster finishes but is much quicker to install.

Q. Can I buy Palliside direct from Dynex?

A. Palliside is only sold  through Palliside Service Providers or via building merchants

Q. Do Palliside colours vary from batch to batch?

A. No.

Q. Can Palliside be used for recladding?

A. Yes, though it is usually recommended that the original cladding is removed before Palliside installation.

Q. Will I need to get a building consent if I reclad with Palliside weatherboards?

A. Yes, unless you are replacing like for like you will need to get a building consent  to reclad. Speak to your builder or lcoal Palliside Service Provider about how to go about this.

Q. Will Palliside go brittle?

A. No

Q. How does salt spray affect Palliside?

A. Palliside is not affected at all by salt spray, making the product ideal for coastal areas.

Q. Can Palliside be painted?

A. Yes, but only in light colours. Please refer to the Palliside Technical Guide for more information.

Q. Are matching paint colours available?

A. Yes. Please refer to the Palliside Technical Guide for more information.

Q. How often does Palliside need cleaning?

A. This depends on the climate and location, but once a year is usually adequate.

Q. Does Palliside creak?

A. There can be some audible noise caused by thermal expansion and contraction, particularly in the first 6-12 weeks after installation. This noise should not be excessive.

Q. How will Palliside handle temperature extremes?

A. Palliside has been tested in a temperature range from -10°C to 60°C. This testing has shown that Palliside will handle temperature extremes throughout the country.

Q. What happens to Palliside in a fire?

A. Palliside is self-extinguishing and will stop burning when the heat source is removed. Until that time the product will melt away from the flame.

Q. How long is Palliside guaranteed for?

A. Palliside is guaranteed for 25 years, subject to the terms of the Palliside consumer guarantee.

Q. What will happen after 25 years?

A. Palliside will continue to act as an exterior cladding. The product will not suddenly break down or fail in any other way.
